Explore Strong Island with a camera
Professional photographer Isaiah Lee and Chatham Conservation Foundation Executive Director Dorothy Bassett will lead a walk Friday through remote Strong Island. The 1.7-mile trail system winds through pine and oak woodlands filled with native shrubs and wildlife. Views are of the Atlantic Ocean, a barrier beach, salt ponds, marshland and Pleasant Bay. This is a BYO camera event, and the discussion will apply to all cameras: phone, digital or film. All skill levels are welcome.

Pottery show features local vendors
The Falmouth Art Center will hold a one-day pottery show and sale outside in a tent featuring the work of more than a dozen vendors, including advanced students and professional potters. Rain date for the event is Sunday.

Pastel society show opens in South Yarmouth
“For Pastels Only on Cape Cod” is the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod’s juried show and sale, and features paintings by contemporary artists. The exhibit features a range of artistic styles and subjects, including coastal scenes, still lifes and figurative work. The exhibit runs through Aug. 14. Wine and cheese will be served at the opening reception.

The Randy Andys to perform in Cotuit
The Randy Andys singing group will make its Cape Cod debut led by native Alison Mahoney, known in TV appearances as “The Singing Baker.” The group, which has a rotating cast, is a post-modern homage to the Andrews Sisters, singing contemporary songs — Lizzo, Kesha, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Janelle Monae — with what is described as “a wink and a nod to a bygone era featuring Broadway starlets.” Performing in Cotuit will be professional actors Monica Blume, Catie Pires Fernandes, Sarah Pothier, Jocelyn Lonquist and guest Napoleon Douglas.

Love Local Fest returns
The Love Live Local group will bring back one of its Love Local Fests, which will feature more than 65 local artists, artisans and makers, food trucks, a beverage garden featuring local craft beers, ciders and wines, live music and kids’ activities. The Cape Cod Maritime Museum will host maritime-themed activities for families and kids from noon to 4 p.m. on its back patio. Catie Flynn Band will play at noon, and the Dirty Water Dance Band will play at 2:30 p.m.

Author Gunning to talk about new book
Brewster’s Sally Gunning, author of six historically themed novels (“The Widow’s War,” “Monticello”) will give an outdoor talk, Q&A and book signing about her recently released “Painting the Light,” a meditation on love and loss about a woman who dreamed of being an artist and instead found herself on a seaside farm on Martha’s Vineyard. Books will be available to purchase.

Anthony Geraci leads Payomet blues show
Anthony Geraci & the Boston Blues All-Stars is coming to North Truro, with pianist, organist and songwriter Geraci leading bluesmen Michael Mudcat Ward and Jeff Armstrong. Geraci, who has been nominated for multiple awards, is an original member of Sugar Ray and the Bluetones, and Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters, and has played with dozens of top names in blues music.

Get up close with reptiles
The hands-on “Reptiles Rock!” program includes a mini-zoo set-up with 10 to 14 smaller animals, such as bugs, frogs, snakes and lizards to look at, plus a presentation by a rainforest reptile herpetologist. Guests in the main program could be a large red- or yellow-foot tortoise, a large monitor or tegu lizard, a 9- to 10-foot boa or python and the American alligator. Program admission does not include museum admission.

Eastham society holds antiques show
The Eastham Historical Society’s 44th annual Outdoor Antiques Show will feature 24 dealers from across the Cape and throughout New England presenting an array of 18th-, 19th- and early-20th-century antiques. Items will include American country furniture, garden antiques, pottery, glassware, paintings, quilts, jewelry, books, decorative items and more. The society will also sell items from its collection.

Symphony back with ‘Sinatra!’ concert
The Cape Symphony will present a “Sinatra!” show in its first public performance since February 2020. The symphony will perform Frank Sinatra’s greatest hits, including “Fly Me to the Moon,” “My Way” and “The Way You Look Tonight,” joined by singer Brian Duprey. He performed in the musical “The Rat Pack is Back” and spent a decade working on tribute shows in the style of “Jersey Boys.”

Learn about Black history through art
Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill will host an evening to learn about the work and life of artist Jacob Lawrence, an American painter known for his portrayal of African American historical subjects and contemporary life. The evening will feature a discussion between art collector Harvey Ross and Lydia Gordon, associate curator for exhibition research and publishing at the Peabody Essex Museum who is a specialist in modern and contemporary art. Lawrence’s 20th-century work documented life in Harlem, and in the late 1930s, he began several series of small-scale tempera paintings on Black history.
